The Sant Joan Funicular offers panoramic views of Montserrat from nearly 1,000 meters high.

The Sant Joan Funicular, managed by Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya (FGC), will resume commercial service from Saturday, October 18 after 26 days of closure due to damage caused by the intense rains of September 21, which particularly affected the Montserrat area.

The rains affected both the track infrastructure and one of the funicular cars. Once the cleaning work has been completed, the car has been repaired and safety tests have been carried out, the Funicular will resume service tomorrow with its usual schedule.

The best panoramic views of Montserrat and the surrounding area from 1,000 meters

The Sant Joan Funicular, with a maximum gradient of 65% and a route of 503 meters, offers an impressive panoramic view of the Montserrat mountain, from a height of nearly 1,000 meters above sea level. At the upper station there is the viewpoint and the Interpretation Center of the Geopark of Central Catalonia and the Natural Park of the Mountain of Montserrat, which shows the history of the characteristic mountain of Montserrat, as well as its climatic conditions, fauna and flora.

At the summit, from the Taràntules plain, visitors can take excursions and walks, which are signposted, with different levels of difficulty and duration, so they are suitable for all audiences.
