History of the Rack Railway

For the last 91 years, the Rack Railway has been the only mode of transport providing access to Vall de Núria, a ski and mountain resort located at an altitude of 2,000 metres in the municipality of Queralbs in the Eastern Pyrenees.

Passengers experience a brand new world of sensations as they marvel at the beauty and spectacle of the landscape. With a length of 12.5 kilometres, Núria’s unique Rack Railway takes just 40 minutes to overcome an elevation change of 1,000 metres.

The route passes through four stations: Ribes-Enllaç, Ribes-Vila, Queralbs and Núria, which with an altitude of 1,964 metres, marks the end of a spectacular journey and the start of an incredible experience in the valley itself.

Prices are valid up to 30 November 2023.

The price per person includes VAT and AOV.

THE RACK RAILWAY TICKET INCLUDES: Coma del Clot cable car, exhibitions (rolling stock and “Ninety Years of History” at Ribes-Vila station, “Memories of Snow” exhibition, Visitor Centre and “Valley of the Five Elements” audiovisual presentation) and Núria Basilica.

*Round trip ticket: both journeys must be made on the same day

*Dogs travel free, although they must be muzzled and kept on a lead. (If you do not have a muzzle, they can be bought at the ticket office for €5.)

Special discount for large and single-parent families: available for families with a Large Family Card (3 or more children) and/or a Single-Parent Family Card. When buying a Rack Railway ticket, all of the family members will receive a 20% discount (for Level 1 card holders) or a 50% discount (for Level 2 card holders).

In the case of the Level 1 card, the purchase must be made online in order to ensure the availability of spaces. And for the Level 2 card the purchase must be made by calling +34 972 73 20 20. The discount is applied to the retail price of the ticket (it cannot be combined with other promotions).

 

The urban ticket can be purchased at the ticket offices of the Cremallera train stations.

Prices: one-way ticket Ribes-Rialb-Queralbs €6 (adults) and €4 (children) / return ticket €7.50 (adults), €6.50 (from 65 years old) and €5 (children) .
