The Montserrat and Núria Rack Railway lines and the Sant Joan and Santa Cova funiculars are operational 365 days a year.
The Tren del Ciment and the Tren dels Llacs have concluded a new season marking another successful year in the promotion of cultural and landscape tourism in Catalonia. The Lakes Train has reached 6,421 passengers, 17% more than last year. The Cement Train, which made its last run this weekend, had 29,019 passengers, 49% more than in 2023. Overall, 35,440 people have traveled this season on these two tourist trains of Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya (FGC).
The Tren del Ciment, which runs between Castellar de n’Hug and Guardiola de Berguedà, covers a 3.5 km route that allows you to enjoy the beauty of the Cadí-Moixeró Natural Park. At each of the four stops it makes, users discover proposals of great cultural interest, such as the Artigas Gardens, the Cement Museum and the Exhibition of Historical Trains of secondary, industrial and tourist railways in the Llobregat Valley. This season the Tren del Ciment has introduced a new children’s park at the Clot del Moro station and a heritage circuit through the old colony of the Asland cement factory, contributing to the discovery of the area’s industrial heritage.

The Tren dels Llacs connects Lleida with Pobla de Segur, offering two experiences: the Historic Train, which evokes the aesthetics of the 60s, and the Panoramic Train, with large windows to admire the landscape. With a total of 28 runs this year (the last on October 26), the train has attracted both local and international visitors with spectacular views of the Pyrenean lakes and complementary cultural activities at the stations. In terms of occupancy, the Historic Train has reached 90.19% of its occupancy this year compared to 80.69% in 2023 and the Panoramic Train has reached 100% of its capacity on the 4 routes that he has done this season.

Tourist trains all year round
Ferrocarrils tourist trains are the company’s commitment to sustainability and the promotion of Catalan cultural heritage, offering unique experiences that combine the industrial past and the exuberant nature of Catalonia.
The Núria Rack Railway, the only way to access the valley, will be in circulation on November weekends. Therefore, during working days it will offer the interurban service between Ribes and Queralbs. During this month, visiting the Capçaleres del Ter i del Freser Natural Park is an unmissable activity to enjoy the changing colors of the forests in autumn. From November 30, the Cremallera will resume normal circulation coinciding with the start of the mountain resort’s winter season, the date on which the Fun Park and winter activities will open, as long as the conditions snow and weather permitting. With the ticket for this tourist transport, users have access to the Coma del Clot Cable Car, the exhibitions, the Núria basilica and the audio guides, both in Cremallera and Vall de Núria.
As for the Montserrat Rack Railaway and the Sant Joan Funicular, they are also still operational and in full operation for the rest of the year. The Santa Cova Funicular is closed on working days in November, as well as from the 2nd to the 5th, from the 9th to the 13th and from the 16th to the 20th of the same month.
