Positive results in Berguedà and the counties of Lleida

The Tren del Ciment, which runs between Castellar de n’Hug and La Pobla de Lillet / Guardiola de Berguedà along a 3.5-kilometer route, has recorded 29,190 riders, maintaining the 49% increase achieved in 2024. During its operating period (every Saturday and Sunday from March 28 through November 1), visitors were able to explore cultural attractions such as the Artigas Gardens designed by Antonio Gaudí, the Monastery of Santa Maria de Lillet, the Historic Train Exhibition, and the Cement Museum.

For its part, the Tren dels Llacs, which connects Lleida with La Pobla de Segur, passing through 4 lakes, 40 tunnels, and 75 bridges over a distance of 89 kilometers, has closed out the season with 6,700 passengers, continuing the excellent high-occupancy results of the past three seasons for both the Historic Train and the Panoramic Train.

More than one million passengers travel annually on the Turistren network

As of early November, cumulative ridership on FGC TURISME’s entire fleet of tourist trains has already surpassed the milestone of one million annual passengers. These figures will continue to grow throughout November and December thanks to the rail services that operate year-round, 365 days a year: the Montserrat Rack Railway, the Sant Joan Funicular, and the Núria Rack Railway.

As of today, both the Núria Rack Railway (with 236,527 visitors) and the Sant Joan Funicular (with 260,299 visitors) have already matched the total number of passengers they carried throughout the entire year of 2025.

Success of the new Turistren Passport

One of the major new developments of the 2026 season has been the launch of the Turistren Passport, a digital platform created to encourage people to explore the region’s natural and railway heritage. This program allows users to track their trips and receive discounts of up to 20% on future trips on other modes of transportation within the network.

In its first year of operation, more than 1,500 passengers have enjoyed the benefits of the Turistren Passport on the Montserrat Rack Railway and Funiculars, the Núria Rack Railway, the Tren dels Llacs, and the Tren del Ciment, reinforcing FGC TURISME’s commitment to boosting the region’s economy.
