With the aim of enhancing the visit, preserving the atmosphere of prayer and contributing to the maintenance of Montserrat as a whole, a tourist ticket for non-residents of Catalonia and the rest of Spain will be available for access to the Sanctuary (Atrium, Basilica and Cambril/Camarín [chapel]) as and from 3 May 2023.

After the experience of managing access to the Basilica, which started during the pandemic, the Monastery has made a positive assessment as this has been beneficial to visitors, organizing the influx of tourism and preserving and promoting the pastoral aspect and the prayer atmosphere of the Sanctuary.

Therefore, capacity control will continue in the coming years, and, for 2023, a tourist ticket will be available to access the Sanctuary (Atrium, Basilica and Cambril/Camarín [chapel]) with the following exceptions:

  • People attending religious services: convent mass/other masses and celebrations/confessions.
  • Residents: Catalonia/rest of Spain.
  • Accommodation: guest house/hotel/flat/hostel.

The funds obtained are used to pay for the maintenance of Montserrat as a whole and to collaborate in the various activities with a social purpose promoted by the Monastery.

Residents must continue to make reservations through the Abbey's website, to attend Mass, the Escolania choir singing or to venerate the Virgin Mary.

Non-residents or tourists will find the various combinations of tickets on the visitor's website (montserratvisita.com).

Travel agencies and guides have the usual channels of the Montserrat Bookings Centre to plan their visit to Montserrat and guarantee access.

The management of the capacity of these spaces allows the celebrations in the Basilica to take place in conditions of silence, preserving the atmosphere of prayer, to be able to welcome everyone who wishes to come, enhancing the quality of the visit so that the memory of their stay is a good one.
