Here you are 5 excursions in the Alt Penedès region to explore Gelida and discover the beauty of the Penedès landscape. All these signposted routes have the Gelida Funicular station as their starting point, one of the main tourist attractions in the municipality, and they are adapted to all types of public.

1. Route of the Treasures of Gelida

This itinerary is very diverse, the route runs through both the city and the natural environment. A 4 kilometer excursion to discover all the secrets that the municipality of Gelida hides.

The circular route begins at the Gelida Funicular station, passes through the Castle Interpretation Center and then continues through the ‘House of the Lord’, where you can discover the secrets it keeps. The route continues past some fountains, in front of the town’s castle and until it reaches a rest area after crossing the forest, in Can Torrents.

Once past Can Torrents, it is up to each individual to walk to Font Freda or turn around along the path that passes by Font de Cantillepa. A hike of moderate difficulty suitable for all types of hikers.

2. Camí del Mig Trail

This old road connects the center of Gelida with the neighborhood Barri del Puig. It is an easy route with a distance of just over 8 kilometers and complete with a walk through vineyards and typical natural landscapes of the Penedès.

Hikers cross vineyards and will go around the farmhouses of Ferreria, Can Castany and Can Miquel de les Planes on this circular excursion.

It is recommended to be careful not to get wet with the passage of the river that is on the route.

3. Itinerary through Sant Esteve and Can Rimundet

An excursion of moderate difficulty and more than 13 kilometers of circular route that requires good physical resistance.

The route crosses the neighborhood of Sant Salvador de la Calçada passing by the hermitage of Sant Joan Samora.

The path then continues along a track between vineyards to the Can Rimundent farmhouse, where from there you will find the waterfall, which you must turn off the path to see.

Returning to the path, you reach the Can Batllevel farmhouse as far as the Torre d’Albert, an emblematic point in the history of Gelida.

4. Path of the farmhouses

This circular route is ideal for discovering a small agricultural area located in the forest that was built by the people who lived there during the fifteenth century.

A 9.4-kilometre excursion of moderate difficulty that allows you to delve into the history of Catalonia thanks to the old farmhouses that are found along the way.

5. Camí de Ronda through Torrent Vallberdina

Finally, we offer you this route that combines different urban areas of Gelida with spectacular natural landscapes that surround the municipality.

In this case, the route begins by going up the torrent, passing through the Font Freda, crossing different places such as the Can Voltà viewpoint until reaching the emblematic Gelida Castle.

This excursion of moderate technical difficulty and with a distance of almost 12 kilometers allows you to be in contact with nature, as it crosses the entire forested part of Gelida and offers excellent views of Gelida and the Montserrat Mountain Natural Park.
